Sermon Outline for Sunday March 30, 2008
Text: John 20:19-31
Title: PEACE BE WITH YOU
INTRODUCTION
1. When was the last time you said “Peace be with you.”
2. Where do we find peace?
Where does the Bible tells us that we can find peace?
A. Jesus gives peace to believers in times of fear. John 20:19
“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the
disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of
the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said,
"Peace be with you!"
B. Jesus sends believers to go out and share His peace. John
20:21-23 “Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the
Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he
breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you
forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not
forgive them, they are not forgiven."
We need to have faith to receive peace?
A. Thomas would not believe without seeing. John 20:25
“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger
where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will
not believe it."
B. Our source of faith is the Gospel. Romans 1:16 “I am not
ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for
the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew,
then for the Gentile.”
CONCLUSION
A. Peace is found in our trust in God
B. Since God is always with us we can always have peace.
PEACE BE WITH YOU!
